What it does not change
We do not recommend a product because it pays better. Where the cheaper option is the better option, we say so plainly. A good number of the items on our checklists carry no link at all, because the honest answer is that you probably already own one, or that any version will do.
Every recommendation on this site also says what the product is not good for. If we cannot write that sentence honestly, the product does not go on the list.
How we choose
We recommend things we have handled, or we say that we have not. Where a recommendation rests on published specifications rather than on use, the page says so in plain words. We would rather give you a smaller claim we can stand behind than a confident one we cannot.
